Student presents research at conference

麻豆视频 Biotechnology student Jeremy Sabo recently attended an undergraduate research conference in Washington, D.C.

Sabo, along with Dr. Diana Spencer, Professor and Coordinator of Biotechnology, and Dr. Ric Baser, Vice President for Academic Affairs, attended 鈥淩eflections: A Comparative Study in Implementing Undergraduate Research at Community Colleges.鈥

Sabo presented a poster on his research 鈥淭he Cloning and Sequencing of GapC Glyceradehyde-3-Phosphate Dehydrogenase from Gaillardia and Monarda and Determination of its Potential Protein Sequence鈥 at Montgomery College in Rockville, Md. The poster was a result of Sabo鈥檚 summer research class, Lab Sprints Plus, funded by Community College Undergraduate Research Initiative and 麻豆视频.

Spencer and Baser spoke about determining best practices for undergraduate research within community colleges.

Travel expenses were funded through 麻豆视频鈥檚 full partnership with the National Science Foundation CCURI initiative.

The goal of the conference was to collect data from community colleges across the country that implement undergraduate research on their campuses. Conference participation was by invitation only.
